Food Co-op to Open by End of May

Maynard, MA - The Assabet Cooperative Market is scheduled to open their food store to the public, before the end of this May, according to an announcement made at the organization's Annual Owners meeting, held this afternoon at one o'clock PM.
Board President Leah Ciappenelli, Communications Director Lorne Bell, and General Manager Sam McCormick addressed the approximately 40 assembled member-owners at the meeting which was held at The Sanctuary in downtown Maynard.
They reviewed the recent progress made toward the opening of the organization's full service grocery store next month. The 6,000 square foot store is located in Victory Plaza, 86 Powder Mill Road, in Maynard.  The crowd was told that all store fixtures are now in place and operational, stock is being ordered, and employees are being hired to staff the store's operations.  Last minute touches are planned for the next few weeks, according to presenters at the meeting.
Those present applauded at the news of the upcoming opening, signifying the fruition of eleven years of work, dating back to the first meetings of the steering committee, the organization's origin, back in 2012.

The presenters opened the floor to questions after the initial presentation, some of which came from participants viewing the meeting online.
